Sue brings extensive financial services experience to GBB gained through more than 25 years in banking and financial services. She sees herself as ‘not the usual banker’.
Sue started her career at Lloyds and HBOS and she has gone on to lead several Retail and Business Banking businesses. She formerly led the full range of Retail and SME Products and Analytics at Santander before running their Business Banking, Wealth and Investments businesses. Sue then joined Barclays in 2011 to lead Business Banking end to end with over 1m customers and then moved to lead the Affluent business including International, Investments and Stockbroking. Latterly she led the Premier UK Business and Global Clients, Community Banking Segments and Savings book. Barclays Premier saw unprecedented growth in customer numbers (to over 1m), customer value and experience. After a long tenure at Barclays, Sue joined challenger bank Aldermore as the executive responsible for the retail finance business.
She has a passion for Customers and Clients as well as having led up to 4000 people and prides herself on people development. Her proudest career moment was redesigning and delivering a business banking strategy at Barclays that focussed on rewarding customers who had been with the bank longest and had most money going through their accounts as opposed to best offers to new customers. This had a massive impact on the customer engagement and on retention and P & L.
Sue’s ambition is to ensure GBB is a bank with real purpose and leadership in data, technology and People. She has an MBA from Cranfield, Marketing Diploma and several financial services qualifications. She lives in Northamptonshire with her husband David, son Joseph and her three dogs.
